WNBA Hall of Famer & ESPN Analyst
Rebecca Lobo is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, Olympic gold medalist and respected ESPN basketball analyst. From helping transform UConn into a national powerhouse to becoming one of the original stars of the WNBA, Lobo has played an important role in the growth and visibility of women’s basketball.
Lobo led the University of Connecticut to an undefeated season and its first national championship in 1995. She was named the consensus National Player of the Year and later helped the United States win a gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games. Lobo then became one of the WNBA’s foundational players, beginning her professional career with the New York Liberty and helping the team reach the league’s inaugural championship game.
After retiring, Lobo transitioned into broadcasting and became one of ESPN’s leading analysts for women’s college basketball and the WNBA. She was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. Lobo has also supported educational and health-related initiatives, including a scholarship established with her mother at UConn.
