Dave Andreychuk is a Hockey Hall of Famer, Stanley Cup champion, and former Tampa Bay Lightning captain whose remarkable NHL career spanned 23 seasons. One of the most prolific goal scorers of his era, Andreychuk recorded 640 goals and 1,338 points over 1,639 regular-season games and established himself as one of hockey’s premier power-play scorers.
Selected 16th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 1982 NHL Draft, Andreychuk went on to play for the Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Andreychuk enjoyed one of his finest offensive seasons with Toronto, scoring 53 goals during the 1993-94 season. Throughout his career, his size, scoring touch, and ability around the net made him particularly dangerous on the power play and helped establish him among the NHL’s most productive offensive players.
In 2001, Andreychuk signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning and later became the team’s captain. His leadership helped culminate in the defining moment of his career in 2004, when, at age 40 and in his 22nd NHL season, he captained the Lightning to the first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history.
Andreychuk retired in 2006 after one of the longest and most productive careers in NHL history. In 2017, he received hockey’s highest individual honor when he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Off the ice, Andreychuk has remained closely connected to hockey and his community. Through the Dave Andreychuk Foundation, he has supported charitable organizations benefiting children and families.
