Dana Barros
NBA All-Star, Former Celtics Player, Basketball Analyst
Dana Barros is a former NBA All-Star, Boston Celtics guard, and basketball analyst whose career has kept him closely connected to the game at both the professional and youth levels.
A Boston native, Barros starred at Boston College, where he became the first player in program history to score more than 2,000 career points. His standout collegiate career later earned him induction into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame.
Selected 16th overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1989 NBA Draft, Barros went on to play 13 seasons in the NBA with Seattle, the Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, and Detroit Pistons.
His finest professional season came with Philadelphia in 1994-95, when he averaged 20.6 points and 7.5 assists per game, earned an NBA All-Star selection, and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player.
After retiring from professional basketball, Barros remained involved in the sport through broadcasting, coaching, and youth basketball. He has worked as a basketball analyst for NESN and founded the Dana Barros Basketball Club, creating opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and compete.
