Terry O’Reilly
Bruins Legend
Terry O’Reilly is a Boston Bruins legend whose toughness, loyalty and relentless style made him one of the most beloved players in franchise history. Known as “Taz,” O’Reilly combined physical play with offensive ability and leadership throughout his career.
Selected by Boston in the first round of the 1971 NHL Draft, O’Reilly spent his entire 14-season playing career with the Boston Bruins. He appeared in 891 regular-season games, scored more than 200 goals and helped the Bruins reach three Stanley Cup Finals. Although widely recognized as one of his era’s premier enforcers, O’Reilly was also a productive scorer who surpassed 20 goals four times and recorded a career-high 90 points during the 1977–78 season.
After retiring as a player, O’Reilly returned to the Bruins as an assistant coach and later served as the team’s head coach. He guided Boston to the 1988 Stanley Cup Final and remained closely connected to the organization through alumni events and community appearances. The Bruins retired his No. 24 in 2002.
