Robert Parish
Basketball Hall of Famer
Robert Parish is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, four-time NBA champion and one of the most durable players in league history. Nicknamed “The Chief,” Parish was a cornerstone of the Boston Celtics teams that defined professional basketball during the 1980s.
After beginning his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, Parish was traded to the Boston Celtics in 1980. Alongside Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, he formed one of basketball’s most celebrated frontcourts and helped Boston win championships in 1981, 1984 and 1986. Parish later earned a fourth championship with the Chicago Bulls in 1997.
Over 21 NBA seasons, Parish appeared in 1,611 regular-season games, earned nine All-Star selections and became known for his conditioning, consistency and trademark high-arching jump shot. The Celtics retired his No. 00 in 1998, and he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. He was also selected to the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams.
