John Hannah is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history. Known for his extraordinary strength, athleticism and relentless approach to the game, Hannah spent his entire 13-season professional career with the New England Patriots and established a standard of excellence that continues to define the position.
Selected fourth overall in the 1973 NFL Draft after an outstanding career at the University of Alabama, Hannah became the cornerstone of the Patriots’ offensive line. He was selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls, earned seven First-Team All-Pro honors and helped lead New England to its first Super Bowl appearance following the 1985 season. His combination of power, speed and technique earned praise from teammates, opponents and coaches throughout the league.
Hannah was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991, becoming the first player who spent his entire career with the Patriots to receive the honor. He was also part of the inaugural class of the Patriots Hall of Fame and was selected to the NFL’s 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time Teams. Following football, Hannah returned to Alabama, where he has remained connected to agriculture, coaching and community initiatives.
