Caitlin Mara is a national champion and Division I soccer player at the University of North Carolina. A 5-foot-10 defender from Winchester, Massachusetts, Mara has distinguished herself through her size, composure, competitive drive and ability to contribute at both ends of the field.

Mara attended Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, where she helped build one of the country’s most successful prep soccer programs. During her career, BB&N compiled a 63-1-2 record with 60 shutouts and went undefeated from October 2019 through November 2023. A two-time captain, Mara helped lead the team to three NEPSAC Class A championships while contributing 23 goals and nine assists.

Mara joined UNC’s storied women’s soccer program in 2024 and contributed during the Tar Heels’ run to the NCAA national championship. She has continued to expand her role as a defender while demonstrating an ability to create scoring opportunities, including a two-goal performance against SMU in 2025. Away from competition, she co-founded an A Shot for Life Soccer club at BB&N to help raise funds for cancer research.
